Pikey Peak Trek – 7 days short, easy and unexplored trek with the best panoramic view of Mt. Everest from the hilly mountain of Khumbu region. Pikey peak is a seasonal snowy hill where local Sherpa people go for short hiking trips and to hang the prayer flag on the top. The Pikey named from the name of local Sherpa CLAN deity it represents the sky over nature. During the monsoon time, Sherpa people celebrate their CLAN god worship ceremony held by Buddhist Lama and group of Monks. In the monsoon time, they leave their domestic animals to feed hygiene grasses. Visiting small Sherpa’s farmer village, painted Buddhist monasteries and the rhododendron forest most highlighted. The trek is a good combination for Nature and Culture exploration.

Day by day Itinerary

Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap (2900m) just before 25kms before from Salleri by sharing jeep/bus or private jeep.

Take about 7 to 8 hours drive and stay at Dhap. Very simple guest house. Offer best local food (Dal Bhat, potatos, local breads and seasonal vegetables with hot/cold drinks) mountain hut accommodation.

Trek from Dhap to Jhapre (2930m) today is an easy hiking day, we trek about 5 hours to Jhapre village, in route taste of local product, small village and rural lifecycle can be seeing.

Tonight we stop an small family owned guest house. It is better to say a kind of home stay. Offer very simple accommodation, local food (Dal Bhat and Curry or similar meal)

Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base (3600m) Today we trek generally uphill to pike base, passing many stone steps, local peoples, animals and enjoy with the natural beauties from Pikey hill area.

Just before 1.30 hours from the pikey peak top we stop tonight. There are two of very simple guest house offer accommodation and catering service. The evening and night can be chill and windy. We trek about 5 hours today.

Morning we trek about 2 hours to Pikey Peak summit.

The trail goes mostly uphill stone stairs. When we go more high we have more wider views. Pikey Peak offer fantastic view of Himalayan range including Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu with the great landscapes wetness valley. Many yaks across front of you and during the milk season some time you can test fresh yak milk, yogurt and cheese. After continue 3 hours hiking through picturesque landscape and rhododendron forest we reach Jase Bhangyang and stop night at guest house.

After breakfast we continue hike to Junbeshi (2390m). In route, trek along the village and crossing Buddhist prayer wall.

Trek back to Base and breakfast, After that trek to Junbeshi village. Afternoon we visit Junbashi Monastery and Sherpa Village around. Stay at comfortable guest house with choice of meal.

Trek from Junbashi to Salleri (2360m). Junbeshi is a well known Sherpa village.

We visit popular Monastery and trek to Salleri. In route we pass much more prayer flags and prayer wheels with carving mantra stones walls. Take about 4 to 5 hours. Stay at local guest house and afternoon we can visit an Tibetan monastery near to Phaplu and return.

Morning breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu by local jeep/bus or private transport.

Take about 8 to 9 hours. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.

How to Reach Pikey Peak

Pikey Peak Trek begins from Kathmandu and we travel for about 7-8 hours to arrive at Dhap (2,900m). From Dhap we walk toward Jhapre which is a stunning local village, on our route towards our final destination. From Jhapre we trek forward towards Pikey Peak Base (3,600m) in which we can enjoy the beautiful natural beauty and a picturesque hill region.The hike will take us to Pikey Peak (4,060m) to get to Jase Bhanjyang for 2 hours and finally reach our destination. Enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Dhaulagiri and Kanchenjunga from Pikey Peak. After enjoying a good time on Pikey Peak, hike back to Junbeshi (2,390m) Village. Junbeshi village is the home of Sherpa residents. From Junbeshi trek toward Salleri and visit the popular monastic site. From Salleri drive back to Kathmandu.

Best time to visit Pikey Peak

The autumn months (September to December) and spring (February to June) are the best times of the year for hiking Pikey Peak. The seasons are known for beautiful weather and spectacular views. The autumn season brings joy to Nepal because the main celebration of Nepal is celebrated in this time of year.
