Mera Peak Climbing (6,476m) – the highest trekking peak in Nepal has been the goal of aspiring high altitude climber is of low risk since it was first climbed in 1953. Mera peak is a non-technical snowy peak to climb summit but still caters to so much thrilling fun while conquering it. Located in the northeast region of the Himalayas of Nepal. Mera Peak climbing adventure gives you a great opportunity to get high altitude experience in a relatively shorter time. Few days of trekking to Mera Base Camp via challenging, Mera-La Pass. And exceptionally beautiful Hinku valley is a great trekking experience.

Day by day Itinerary

In airport, our staff welcome you and transfer to Hotel. Evening short walk around the city and overnight at Hotel.

Breakfast, Kathmandu sightseeing, meet your tour guide and he will show you some highlights of UNESCO places in kathmandu, You will visit Patan City (a old kingdom Bhadgoan and oldest town Kirtipur) and mera peak trek preparation, permit and free time, hotel. B/B plan.

Morning flight to Lukla from kathmandu domestic airport, flight with incredible mountain views north to the Himalayan Range. Lukla is gate-way to the Everest region. Meet our crew in there and begin walk to Chuttanga is quite short but its 4 hours ascent through the forest to Chuttanga. Guest House. B/L/D.

It almost like yesterday and except you get some downhill as well along the forest. You start the morning with 3 to 4 hour ascent to pass of Chattra La at 4290m (La means pass). From the pass you can enjoy the iconic mountain views before your 2 hour descent to Chattra camp.

This morning you start off with some downhill. The walking trail descends for about 5 hours through mixed forest down to the river valley. From here you ascend again for about 1 hour, following the river all the way to Kothe. You will see good mountain views today as well and you get your first view of Mera peak.

From Kothe, the trail follows the river upward all the way to Thagnak, Is a small mountain place with few guest house, our stop for the night. Along the way you have amazing views of Mera Peak, Mera La Glacier as well as the surrounding majestic mountains. Small Sherpa village and you can have fun learning more about Sherpa culture here with traditional sherpa stew (soup)

A rest morning, you dont need to pack your things again, today is for letting your bodies rest and acclimatize. If you are feeling good and like to get active in the himalayas, you could go for an acclimatization walk, or explore the village with the scenic view of Himalayas.

Today’s trail is all going up to Kharka. You ascend for about 2 hours to Di Kharka and then you have a small steep climb, about 2 hours to Khare. To take your mind off the ascent, you have amazing views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kangaru and many more mountain range to the deep valley. A good day to enjoy being in the alpine zone and get a good rest at your overnight stop in Khare.

Today is another day for rest before ascending to high summit and let your body adjust to the altitude. Use the time to check your climbing gear or do a day hike from Khare.

From here it’s gradual uphill climb to high camp. On this day you will have magnificent mountain view including world’s highest Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-oyu and other mountain ranges. When you getting more high the view are more wider.

This morning, we start summit climb to Mera early in the morning, with the ascent taking about 5 or 6 hours. The last 100 meters is steep climb to the summit on top of Mera Peak. From top, you will have 360 degree magnificent views to the surrounding mountains higher and lower than it. After taking your photos and getting your breath back, you return back down all the way to Khare, which is a longest day of the expedition. You need to walk straight down hill.

Easy morning after the climbing, we cross small pass uphill and descend down along the same route, rocky trail and step downhill. It is up and down trail and enter Dudh koshi valley.

Today you retrace the trail to Chattra, all the way descent down and down along the pine forest, rhododendron forest, loose stone rocky trail. We left the Mera mountain back and getting close to Lukla. Best view of Mt. Kongde and dudh Koshi valley with Lukla bazaar. Trekking time, approx 7 hours.

Today you retrace the trail to Lukla and, as this will be the last time you see some of your crew, you will no doubt have a party to celebrate a successful expedition.

This morning you will board the Lukla flight again, this time bound for Kathmandu, free time hotel.

How to Climb Mera

Before climbing the Mera Peak, our experience Sherpa will demonstrate to you how to climb this peak? Get the basic knowledges of high altitude techniques and use the Climbing gears. That makes more confidence for you to get the summit of Mera Peak. From the summit of Mera, you will able to capture an iconic view of 8000 meters Himalayas. Mt. Everest – 8,848m, Lhotse – 8,516m, Mt. Makalu – 8,363m, Mt Kanchenjunga 8,586m and the spectacular view of other Khumbu Himalayan range.

Fix Departure dates to Mera Peak in 2025

Find your best and suitable climbing trip date from March to December 2023. All mera peak tours are 100 percent conform to departure. Our mera peak summit rate is 99.9 percent throw-out local experience climbers and logistic support.  All the mera peak expedition we include full equipment support for climber to Sherpas.

An adventure hike to Mera Peak begins at Lukla. Once you start climbing, make sure your body can digest the altitude before entering the Hinku Valley via the 4,600m Teng La Pass. Enjoy breathtaking views of the two peaks of the Kusm Kanguru and Lumba Sumba Glaciers during a spectacular trek along the Hinku Valley wilderness to reach Ghotar via Thule Kharka. Go higher and reach the Mela Base Camp in Khare.

Adapt well before crossing the elevated Mera La Pass at 5,415m and arrive at Mera’s lower base camp at 5,300m. Head to the final camp before climbing Mera Peak near the Dig Glacier. If the weather is nice, follow the instructions of the mountaineering guide to scale the summit. Stand on Mera Peak and enjoy the most beautiful views of Everest, Makalu, and several other peaks in front of you. In the second half of the Mera Peak climbing adventure, you’ll descend to Khare and follow the path back to Lukla.

Best Time to Climb Mera Peak

March-May before the monsoon and September-December after the monsoon are the most popular trekking time to trek Mera Peak. You can climb Mera Peak during the monsoon, but it will be quieter during this time. There is excitement and atmosphere of hikers in each trekking season, but if you want to check the weather conditions during trekking, be sure to stick to the high season.

Before trekking from base camp to Mera Peak, use the Sherpa-owned local Mountain Inn for overnight and dining as a responsible local trekking agency and sustainable tourism. We stay in the tent camp with full support with mattresses and hygienic catering services in the highlands, 24/7 back support by staff, and Sherpa climbing on the base camp. For safety reasons, we always carry life-saving oxygen in a mask with a first aid kit to provide good communication service.
