Changu Narayan:
Changunarayan Temple, Hindu Pilgrimage site and perched at the abrupt end of the ridge extending from Nagarkot lies 8 km (5 mi.) north of Bhaktapur is the UNESCO Cultural world Heritage Site. The ancient temple honors Vishnu as Narayan, or the first being. The temple stands as the epitome of culture, religion, history and faith of the Kathmandu valley. The temple is probably the oldest temple in the whole Kathmandu valley in pagoda shape supported by visible wooden roofs on the exterior and stone sculptures surrounding the building depict various other avatars of Vishnu as well as of local kings and queens. The traditional Nepali-style architecture includes intricately gilded windows and four gates, each guarded by a pair of stone animals.
