Trekking Permit in Nepal

A trekking permit is required for trekking in Nepal. The trek permit and costs required to trek in any region of Nepal are issued by the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) or the Immigration Department of Nepal. Trekkers who are traveling to Nepal’s unrestricted areas are issued permission by TAAN.

When non-Nepali trekkers travel to the forbidden area of the Himalayas, the Immigration Department is in charge of the necessary permissions. Trekkers must pay USD 20 for the TIMS Card in addition to the Conservation Area or National Park Fee in order to trek in non-restricted areas of Nepal. The permit cost varies by location when trekking in the prohibited areas.

TIMS CARDS

Trekkers must have TIMS Cards (Trekking Information Management System) worth US$20 per person in addition to entrance permits costing Rs 3000 for the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP Permit), Rs 3000 for the Everest National Park, Rs 3000 for the Khumbu entry ticket, and Rs 3000 for the Langtang National Park. To journey on unrestricted paths, hikers can issue their own permit.

The following restricted places are only accessible in groups; individual trekkers will not be awarded a trekking permit for these areas. For the restricted region trekking, hikers need hike with a guide through a government-registered hiking business. The locations and costs are as follows:
