There are two major trekking seasons in Nepal; pre-monsoon and post-monsoon. Basically Autumn and Spring Seasons are the best time for trekking in Nepal. Starting from September to November are the best months for trekking, mountaineering and adventure holidays in Nepal while march to may are the best months for trekking and peak climbing.

Peak Trek Seasons

March – May (Spring Season)

Spring season is the best season for trekking and mountaineering in Nepal. Just after chilling winter season, the sky is clear, bright days and dry. Attempting to the mountain peak climbing is frequent and you will experience blossom of rhododendron flowers displaying over the valley, just you say “WOW”.

September – November (Autumn Season)

September to November is the popular time of the year for trekkers as it offer the best views of mountains during hiking to Himalayas. The stunning mountain vistas, clear sky and spectacular environment gives you a different experience in Nepal. There are traffic on the regular trekking routes of the popular trails as this is the most busiest time for all kinds of adventure holidays.

Off Seasons Travel in Nepal

December – February (Winter Season)

December to February is the winter season in Nepal. The coolness depends upon the trekking altitude how high you want to go. Remarked by the chilling cold in high altitude, Trekking is not recommended to high passes trekking but you can trek to low altitude trekking trails like Ghorepani Poon Hill, Everest Panorama Trek, Langtang Valley Trek and Kathmandu Valley Trekking where the temperature is moderate.

June to August (Monsoon Season)

June to August is the wettest time in Nepal remarked by monsoon. During monsoon time, trekking is not operated as the trekking trails are slippery, risk of landslides, rain all the day (some days) and leeches. Although it is not the best time to trek in Nepal, there are some trekking trails that lie on rain shadow areas which are highly recommended for trekker to do.
